Tottenham vs Manchester City: Premier League Analysis

Tottenham vs Manchester City: PL Analysis

The going to be title-winners, Manchester City is going to face off against the Champions League contenders, Tottenham towards the end of April 2018. Both sides are in-form, City in relatively better form and position on the table.

Past Meetings

Manchester City beat Spurs twice already this season, both times at the Etihad. The first one was part of the International Champions Cup which City took 3-0 and the second was the first meeting between the Premier League sides this season, which City won 4-1 with goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne and a brace from Raheem Sterling.

Champions League Commitments

Manchester City, having almost won the League, will focus their efforts and squad on winning the Champions League. They play two legs against Liverpool. Spurs got knocked out by Juventus in the Champions League in the round of 16. They only have the top-4 places to fight for.

Harry Kane And Spurs

Kane’s absence from the squad will be noted and missed. The club’s leading scorer was also leading the golden boot race until an injury sidelined him for more than a month. This injury may also see the Spurs striker miss this game in preparation for the World Cup. Without Harry Kane, an almost impossible task is made tougher for Tottenham to take any points away from City this season.

Expected Result

The only thing working in Spur’s favor is they are playing at home (Wembley). Manchester City could lift the title when they play at Spurs and should they win. This also depends on other results, i.e. teams in 2nd and 3rd. Manchester City should see this game out 3-0 based on past performances and squad injuries. Manchester City though do have a busy schedule. They play Liverpool twice, then Manchester United, Liverpool and Spurs. This will be a good end to the season.
