The Player Of A Generation – N’golo Kante

N’golo Kante, the Chelsea and France defensive midfielder that has adapted to the Makelele position so well. Kante has likened himself to his own idol, Lassana Diarra. He joined Leicester in 2015 for under 6 million Pounds and won a Premier League title in his maiden season with the foxes. Next season (2016), he joined Chelsea and did the same thing, won the Premier League with Chelsea in his debut season.

Fact: Kante is the first outfield player to win back to back PL titles with two different clubs. The last person to do that was Eric Cantona, 26 years ago, when Kante was still under a year old.


Style Of Play

Kante has had seasons where he has recovered the ball more than any other player in Europe for that season. Kante is an engine in midfield that can recover the ball consistently, and make several successful interceptions and tackles. Kante has been described by his managers as the complete midfielder, the best player in the Premier League by far and he can run for all 11 players on a pitch.

In 2016, Kante was called up to play for the French National squad which he did. He represented the country till the Euro finals, which they lost to Portugal. He will be France’s most integral cog in defensive midfield if they are to win any titles or World Cup.
